AUM Acquires McKay Stretch Leveling

American Utility Metals, has recently acquired a McKay Stretch Leveling line in Ohio. The capacity of the leveler can handle maximum coil widths from 28” up to 98” and can cut lengths from 4 feet up to 54 feet long. The line handles primarily aluminum and stainless for various industries including side panels for railcars, trailer and bus side sheets, and outer skins for aerospace industry. Thickness ranges from as light as 18ga. in stainless, up to 3/8” in aluminum. It is currently running a 2 million pound capacity per month cycle in both aluminum and stainless.
 
This new aspect to our company allows us to provide a superior product to our current customer base, as well as being able to provide high quality products to new customers in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. 

The location of the McKay Leveler will remain in the Akron, Ohio area but will be able to service customers throughout the eastern U.S. as well as west coast customers with stringent tolerance requirements for flatness.  The leveler is being moved from where it is currently housed in Kent, to a new facility in Akron. With the vital use that this equipment is to the current customer base, it is scheduled be up and running by the end of September.
